About Us Board of Directors The Board of Directors, elected by the membership, meets monthly to conduct business. History SDIS was founded in 1982. It was part of a movement that began in 1975 when a group in New York City responded to the needs of unaffiliated scholars by founding the Institute for Research in History. The multi-disciplinary San Diego Independent Scholars is affiliated with the National Coalition of Independent Scholars (NCIS) with headquarters in Berkeley, California. |
